Ok, I agree Miatas are great, But if the answer is always Miata, Then why the hell are we not all driving one!!!!!! Miata are completely overrated here!!!!

Because at a recent autocross, I beat this built El Camino:

in a bone stock '99. Yeah, the El Camino wasn't designed to go around corners, but with the money that this guy put under the hood and under the rear to correct this deficiency and the number of years that this guy has been autocrossing and club racing this car, you'd think it'd be at least half a second faster than an NB driven by a novice. The reason why it wasn't is simple: Miata.

I've owned 4 Miatas

An NA that I owned for 8 months, and traded in on a new 2000 NB. I had the NB 2 1/2 years and had to get rid of it unfortunately due to a 20% pay cut i was forced to take, or lose my job.

I bought another NB (2003) in March 2011, when my DD was a '08 Focus. I replaced the Focus with a '09 WRX in March '12, and the Miata was gone by August '12 because I liked driving the WRX more, and rarely drove the Miata.

In October '13 I traded in my '13 Honda Fit for a 2006 NC Grand Touring because I hated driving the Fit. It drove my GF nuts that I bought the NC. After my girlfriend ended our relationship in January, I had planned on selling the NC eventually due to all the bad memories associated with it because of her. I did almost say "Fuck it" and was going to keep it and mod it (suspension and a supercharger), but I decided I wanted something nice because trading in the WRX on the Fit, and getting the NC were sacrifices I made for her because at the time I bought the Fit I wanted a BRZ. So last month the NC was sold and I bought a 2006 Corvette.

I've had a lot of fun in Miatas - the NA and 2 NBs both made it to Deal's Gap and have been part of other fun road trips.I'll probably own another one someday, but it'll need to be LSx powered. or at least have some forced induction because as much as I loved the handling, I always wanted more power.

Saturday I spectated at my first autocross event. I saw what stock Miata can do. It was pretty impressive. I get it they are very quick. That being said Miata guys bragging about posting better times than pro touring and long wheel base car guy is like an NFL receive bragging about having a better 40 time than a linebacker. Its apples and oranges. I respect miata guys out there, but I can carry 5 adults comfortably around the track, a set of rear tires and a small cooler. Lets see Miata do that ;oD
